Jamaican Me Crazy: A Christmas Escape

by Debbie DiGiovanni

Review  |   Author Bio  |  Read an Excerpt

Five church ladies struggle to make it through all the hubbub of the holidays, and one or two almost have nervous breakdowns, but thanks to Becky—the single woman of the group—they are all in for a big surprise: A Jamaican holiday! The only problem is the timing: they will be away from their families for the entire Christmas holiday. They are eager to go but are they being selfish? Will their families make it without them? Or will they return to chaos? They meet a man on the beach who seems perfect for Becky, but is he really a con artist? They all have different reasons, but in the end, this vacation is the perfect solution for the problems they face. Even the elderly matron who’s condemned them for abandoning their family finds that a vacation is just what she needs.

Though it was a little hard to get into at first, after a few chapters I was so involved in book that I didn’t want to put it down! It’s quite a humorous tale. Snoring roomies, a mouse, cramped quarters, wardrobe malfunction, lost luggage, and a stranger on the beach, will make you laugh yourself silly. The antics of the ladies will remind you of yourself and your friends. I’d especially recommend this book to young mothers, but singles will enjoy it too. DiGiovanni has written an impressive work in this book, and readers will also enjoy her series geared toward moms called The Motherhood Club. – Amanda Kimmel, Christian Book

Book Jacket:

What you wouldn't give to escape the madness of the holiday season, right? This is your chance. Take a trip, all expenses paid, with the ladies of the Lakeside Baptist Christmas Club as they trade the Christmas rush and icy slush for sun and sandy beaches.

When putting together another "perfect" Christmas is just too much, the women of Lakeside rebel (as much as Baptists can) and buy five tickets to Jamaica. Trading their to-do lists for sunscreen and flip-flops, the ladies think they're going to have the time of their lives. Only their sunny holiday is not quite what they bargained for, and they get a cold dose of reality, sans sugarplums, for Christmas.

With a sprinkle of laughter, a dash of suspense, and a splash of romance, this cast of characters is sure to amuse you. So don your best "island" jammies, turn off the phone, grab a cup of cocoa, and experience sunny Jamaica this Christmas.

Bon voyage!
