Just Jump! (The Double Dutch Club #1)

by Mabel E. Singletary

Review  |   Author Bio  |  Read an Excerpt

Mabel Elizabeth Singletary’s book Just Jump is a well-written book about a jump rope team. I enjoyed how these talented young girls learn to trust God and pull together as a team, even when times are tough and things don’t always go the way they planned. The way Singletary described the girls’ jump rope routines made me feel as if I was there jumping with them. Although this is a very good book and I will definitely read it again, the way the author introduced the main characters made it slightly difficult to keep them all straight in my mind. Overall, this is a very well-written, interesting and energetic story. -- Valerie Hellen, Christian Book

Book Jacket:

Six friends from Grover Cleveland Elementary School have one thing in common: they love Double Dutch.

After one of the girls sees an advertisement for a statewide Double Dutch competition, Rachel, Ming, Tanya, Carla, Lindsey, and Nancy decide to step up their practice time, become a team, and jump into the opportunity to compete in their favorite activity.

The girls have no idea of the surprises that lie in store for them. They work hard learning the ins and outs of Double Dutch, and they also learn to face their fears, reach out to others, and pull together as a team.

As the Double Dutch Club finds out, the road to the competition isn’t easy, but it is definitely worth the ride. When it comes to friendship (and to Double Dutch) they’ve learned what to do—just jump in!
